My New Friend

I would like to introduce my “new” best friend, even though he has been physically dead for over 65 years. He lives spiritually today, and his story is found in “Bonhoeffer”, by Eric Metaxas.  I recently read this excellent new biography on Dietrich Bonhoeffer, great Christian theologian, pastor, activist and martyr who was hanged by the Nazi’s just before the end of WWII.  I am now reading “The Cost of Discipleship”, by Bonhoeffer.  Both books should be a must for anyone interested in Christianity and what is happening in America today.  So, what is the connection?

It seems to me that the process used by the Nazi’s in the 1920’s and 1930’s to gain political power, and eventually a national socialist dictatorship over the German people, is the pattern we see being used in America today by the far “left”.  Socialism and Marxism have been an agenda for decades, and they have strongly infiltrated the government, media, churches, business and educational systems in this country. When reading “Bonhoeffer” I was struck many times by the similarities of Germany’s experience with the Nazi party, and what is now becoming more evident in the leftist, socialist political party agenda in the USA. Anti-Christian, anti-Jew, and anti-God are American, and world, cultural and social themes that must be recognized, understood and confronted. It is a never ending battle for freedom from the power hungry who want to control every aspect of our lives.

The Nazi’s used delusion, lies, deceit, deception, corruption and outright evil to accomplish their goals.  My book, “BE NOT DECEIVED”, provides the information needed to better understand what is happening in today’s world events, and how Believers can be an active influence for good and right in a world going crazy!

The book contents are summarized so as to look at the big picture, rather than a detailed verse by verse commentary.  It takes no dogmatic positions regarding dates, times of events, etc.  It does provide the Scriptural evidence for the stronger positions of many scholars, and hopefully lets the reader come to their own conclusions about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

For those who are not believers in the claims of the Bible, and the person of Jesus, this is an excellent and easy to read commentary that will provide insight into why many people come to a Christian faith.  If you have questions, and are confused by the various denominations, attitudes and professions in the Christian community, this study is a good place to clarify just what the Bible teaches about humankind and our relationship with the God who is revealed in the Scriptures.

It is a fascinating and informative study.
